Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil, and gas), which produces heat-trapping gases. Climate change is happening now and everywhere, but people barely notice.

The goal of this project is to use Apple's Reality Composer to build an immersive augmented reality (AR) experience that connects people to climate change issues that may affect them in a personal way, and inspire them to protect the environment starting from the smallest things.

Concept - Climate Change Awareness
Why did I pick this topic?
One of the best-kept secrets - and most hidden stories of the last few decades has been the effects of greenhouse gases on our climate. Nearly everything we touch, eat, wear, or use to live has at some point been touched by industries that are harming the planet. Although we never planned or wanted it, our homes have become full of objects that link us back to the industrial processes that are causing climate change. The connections are there, but they’re easy to miss.
Whom do I design for? Why?
I randomly selected a few people of different ages and different occupations to conduct simple interviews and ask about their knowledge and understanding of climate change. I found that most of them actually understand more or less the harm of climate change and the potential danger to the future development of mankind, and they also know that many organizations and national leaders are working on this matter, but as individuals, they don’t know how to help the issue of climate change.

The objective of the project is not to explain all of the science behind climate change or all of its consequences. Rather, aim to concentrate on a single topic that will help my users realize that climate change is happening and that it affects them.

Interview & Analysis: Learning About Our Users
Although we saw from secondary research and competitive research that our potential target audience and potential service they need, we wanted to hear firsthand my target audience’s experiences to cater the final product toward their needs. (Tips: click on each project phase to see more details)
In short, most individuals understand that climate change would eventually bring enormous harm to mankind as a whole, but they are unsure of how to fix the issue on a personal basis. They believe that protecting the environment must be done in some big and meaningful ways, such as planting forests or protecting lakes. People are unaware that many small things can contribute to preventing climate change.
This was a perfect opportunity to focus on something they all have to do in their everyday lives: eating. By educating my audiences about three facts regarding foods and plastic, the AR experience will help them understand how the little things in life may also protect the environment.

Final Thoughts
Challenges and earns. What we have been through throughout the project?
Truly important and crucial topic. Deeply touched by the photos.
Different stages of challenges(posenet vs Kinect. processing -> p5, learning 3d WebGL etc. too big to run the code).
Different angel of thought. Learn a lot. The reference code (fake 3D). Not smart but useful enough
